Cleveland isn’t just the birthplace of rock and roll. It’s a city full of underrated, quietly iconic gems that deserve more love. Whether you’ve lived in the 216 your whole life or still think about that one summer on Lake Erie, here are three facts about Cleveland you might not know—and why we made a t-shirt for it.
1. Cleveland is where Superman was born
Before Metropolis, before Hollywood, Superman started in a Glenville attic. Creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were just two Cleveland high school students dreaming up a superhero in the 1930s. Their creation would go on to shape modern comics, but it started with notebook sketches right here in the CLE.
2. The Cleveland Metroparks are bigger than you think
Locals call it the “Emerald Necklace,” and for good reason. The Cleveland Metroparks system wraps around the city with over 24,000 acres of hiking, biking, and surprise bald eagle sightings. That’s more green space than some national parks—no joke.
3. Cleveland had the first ever rock concert
Alan Freed’s Moondog Coronation Ball in 1952 is considered the first official rock concert in history. It was held in Cleveland and shut down early because too many people showed up. Sounds about right. The city’s music legacy runs deep, and it’s more than just the Hall of Fame.
We made a Cleveland shirt because this city’s got stories worth wearing. Clean design, premium feel, and just enough attitude. You can check out the full Cleveland collection right here.
Every shirt’s got a story. Cleveland’s just happens to start with “cleve” and end in style.
