Designing the Perfect City T-Shirt

Designing the Perfect City T-Shirt

Apr 25, 2025Hello BigLittleCities

Not all city t-shirts are created the same. You’ve seen the ones that scream at you—oversized skylines, bad clipart, tourist gift shop energy. That’s not us. At Big Little Cities, we design city tees that we'd actually want to wear. This is a blog post that shows the details about what goes into making them just right.

It starts with knowing the vibe of the place. Some cities are loud. Some are easygoing. Some are just plain weird (in the best way). We try to reflect that without getting in your face about it. A good city shirt should feel like a nod, not a shout.

We keep the designs minimal for a reason. Bold lettering, thoughtful color, and nothing extra. We’re not designing souvenirs—we’re designing pieces that feel personal, familiar, and easy to wear.

Fit and fabric matter just as much as the design. We use soft, high-quality materials that feel broken in from the start. If it’s not your favorite tee after one wash, we didn’t do our job.

Color choices are intentional. Every shirt is meant to feel like it belongs in that city—even if you’re nowhere near it anymore. Earth tones for the Midwest. Dusty hues for the desert. Deep greens, concrete greys, faded blacks. All of it is part of the story.

No gimmicks. No filler. Just good tees made for the places you care about.

Take a look at the New York collection or check out Minneapolis to see what we mean.
